Kathleen Hartshorne performs the beautiful and haunting music of ancient and contemporary Ireland on her Irish Lever Harp. Singing in both Irish and English with her rich mellow voice, she takes you to a world of myth and magic in the misty emerald hills of Erin.

“In my youth, I was a classical musician with the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra Festival Choir. But after a brief trip to Ireland in 1999, to seek out my ‘roots,’ I fell in love with the Irish lever harp. I then spent the summer of 2000 and 2004 and the spring of 2008 traveling all over Ireland playing and studying the harp, the ancient sean nós singing, and the Irish language. I see myself in the ancient tradition of the traveling musician (a ceoltóir—a keeper of memory and myth) and purveyor of Irish craic (good times).”

Kathleen is equally happy providing the perfect background music for your event, or presenting a fun musical program of songs and stories, or providing a complete wedding from the perfect ceremony music, beautiful string ensemble for cocktails, and then rocking it out with a fun reception band. She can even provide the Irish dancers! She specializes in a sound system that allows you to enjoy the music along with your conversation. She can rock it loud, or keep it in the background.

Kathleen performs locally in the Southern California area, and tours the US and Ireland. She teaches voice, piano, and harp out of her home studio. She is available either solo, duo with Jim Moore, or with her band Celtic Echoes for weddings, wakes, garden parties, library concerts, church concert series, school presentations of Irish history and music, folk and Celtic festivals, and special events. Her CD, Ancient Echoes, is available through CD Baby and through her website at www.IrishHarpGirl.com. You can also download her music at most digital music sites.
